Asbestos Roof Replacement – Insulated Metal Roofing

NWIR were approached by Booker Group Ltd to refurbish the roof areas at two of its branches, in Nottingham and Colchester. Together, the two roofs cover 13,400m².
Both roofs were covered with corrugated asbestos cement sheeting. Due to their age and condition, a complete refurbishment was deemed the most suitable solution.
Both branches also needed to stay open and fully operational while the work was carried out.
The refurbishment involved the complete removal of the asbestos cement sheeting at both sites. It was replaced with a modern insulated trapezoidal steel sheeting system, giving each building a durable, weathertight metal roof with far better thermal performance than the uninsulated sheeting it replaced.
Removing the asbestos entirely, rather than overcladding it, also means Booker no longer has asbestos roofing to manage at either branch.
NWIR worked closely with Booker throughout to plan the works around the day-to-day running of each branch. Combined with comprehensive site safety measures, this meant both refurbishments were completed while the business remained fully operational for the duration of the projects.
